Hi, I’m Kathy Burke, the centre manager here at Bluebird Cobram.
Early childhood has always been the perfect fit for me as I’m a real people person who loves to talk and meet new people. I’ve always loved the honest, straight-forward nature of children and admire the way they accept people for who they are. In high school, I volunteered for an arts and crafts program at a local primary school and enjoyed it so much that I decided to form a career in childcare.
I first entered the early education industry in 1990, working in both an occasional care centre and a LDC centre in Canberra. 28 years later, I am now the director of two early education services – a preschool and a childcare centre. I have worked with children of all ages over the years and developed many valuable skills and expertise.
At Bluebird Cobram, we like to build partnerships with families and are big on incorporating family into our centre as much as possible. While our focus is always on the child, we want families to know we are also here for them. We actively recognise the valuable role that parents play as the child’s first teachers and work hard to understand and respect the values of each family.
We believe that forming partnerships helps establish a community where both children and families know they belong and can make valuable contributions. We put a strong focus on communication, honesty and respect, which helps us build authentic relationships that everyone benefits from. By bringing educators and families together socially, we aim to form and strengthen the partnerships we need in the care and education of your children.
When I’m not busy at the Bluebird Centre, you’ll find me indulging in my other passion – riding.
